Rules

BUMBUM is a paid advertising placement service. Anyone can submit a listing (a product website or an X profile) and pay to boost its position on the public leaderboard. The board is sorted, always, by cumulative bid total — highest first. Rank is determined deterministically by dollars bid, not by chance, random draw, algorithm, or editorial judgment.

There are no algorithms, no editorial curation, no follower counts, and no waitlists. Your rank is a direct function of how much has been bid on your listing. Each bid is a purchase of advertising placement at the resulting rank.

• Every bid is added to the target listing's cumulative total. Bids never expire.
• Listings are ranked from highest cumulative total to lowest. Ties are broken by whichever listing reached the total first.
• To claim #1, your bid must move your listing's cumulative total to at least $1 above the current #1's total.
• Any bid below that lands you at whatever rank your new total can hold.
• When someone outbids you, your money stays counted — you just drop to the rank your total can still hold. Bid again anytime to climb back.

Every bid picks a scope at bid time — city, state, country, or world. Ranks are computed within that scope only: a $100 city bid does not spill over into the state, country, or worldwide standings, and a worldwide bid does not fill in for a city that has never been contested. There is no cross-scope dominance.

You're bidding FOR a market, not FROM one. Pick the region that matters to your business. A shop in California can bid to claim #1 in Hartford, and vice versa. The city, state, and country pickers default to your detected location, but you can override them freely — it's your money, your target market.

If nobody has bid in a given (category × scope × region) yet, the first $1 bid claims #1 there outright.

• Minimum bid: $1 USD.
• Maximum single bid: $10,000 USD. For larger amounts, split into multiple bids.
• Claim-#1 increment: your bid must beat the current #1's total by at least $1.
• Payments are processed by Dodo Payments, the merchant of record. Charges appear on your statement as Dodo × BUMBUM. BUMBUM never sees or stores your card details.
• All prices are in USD. Currency conversion and any applicable sales tax or VAT are handled by Dodo at checkout.

You don't need an account to bid. Enter your email at checkout and your bid is on the board.

• After your first successful bid, we email you a bidder code — an 8-character alphanumeric key tied to your email. Save that email.
• To bid again from any device, choose Bid as guest in the modal and enter your email + code. You stay a guest until you specifically create an account.
• Anyone with the code + your email can bid under that address — don't share it.
• Lost the code? Request a resend from the modal. A fresh code is emailed and the old one stops working immediately.
• Guest bids default to worldwide rank. To bid in a specific city, state, or country, sign in or create a free account first.

• Product websites and startup landing pages.
• Personal or professional X (formerly Twitter) profiles.
• Portfolios, personal sites, and creator storefronts.
• Community-run projects, provided the submitter has authority to represent the project.

BUMBUM has a second bid target on top of listings: comments. A comment is a public take — an opinion, a call, a bet — that other bidders can back with cash.

• Any bidder can post a comment inside an active category. Comments have their own leaderboard sorted by cumulative bids, using the same "highest total wins" rule as listings.
• The comment itself is the bid target. Every dollar backing it moves it up the comment board.
• Bidder codes work for comments too — returning guests can back their own take or someone else's without creating an account.
• All content rules in Section 8 apply to comments. No harassment, no illegal content, no impersonation.
• Comment bids are final and non-refundable — see Section 11.

Submissions of the following types will be rejected or removed without refund:

• Chat and invite links (Telegram, Discord, WhatsApp, Slack, and similar).
• URL shorteners or link redirectors.
• Affiliate links, tracking links, or referral URLs.
• NSFW, sexually explicit, or gratuitously violent content.
• Content that infringes intellectual property or impersonates a person, brand, or organization the submitter does not represent.
• Illegal goods, services, or content in the submitter's or the operator's jurisdiction.
• Hate speech, harassment, doxxing, or content targeting protected classes.
• Malware, phishing pages, or any site that endangers visitor safety.

• The first submitter of a given URL or @handle is treated as the owner for the purposes of the leaderboard listing.
• If a rightful owner objects to a listing, contact us with proof of ownership. We will transfer the listing or remove it at our discretion.
• Duplicate submissions of the same URL or @handle will be merged or removed. Bids placed on a removed duplicate will not be refunded but may be reassigned to the canonical listing at our discretion.

Listing owners can open a testing program to recruit tester slots for their product or service. Two modes:

• Unpaid: activates instantly with no fee. Testers apply, the owner accepts, no money changes hands on-platform.
• Paid:the owner sets a per-tester rate and slot count. A 10% activation fee is bundled onto the owner's next bid on the listing.

• The activation fee is separate from the bid amount and does not count toward leaderboard rank.
• To apply to a paid program a tester must be a Verified Visitor ($0.99/month subscription). Unpaid programs are open to anyone.
• Testers apply via a cover note; the owner accepts or declines. Owners pay testers off-platform on whatever terms the program specifies.
• All activation fees and Verified Visitor subscription payments are final and non-refundable.

All bids are final. The leaderboard is a real-time public auction — once a bid is placed and confirmed by Dodo Payments, it is added to the target listing's (or comment's) total and counted permanently, including for the ranks it briefly held.

Fraudulent or unauthorized card use, as determined by Dodo Payments or your card issuer, will be reversed and the corresponding bid removed from the totals. Chargeback-related removals may affect the rank of the associated listing.

We may remove listings, refuse new bids, or suspend accounts at any time if we determine that a listing or a bidder is violating these rules or acting in bad faith. Enforcement decisions are at the sole discretion of the BUMBUM operator.

Removed listings and their historical bids may remain visible in public activity records for transparency.

• No automated bidding, scripted checkout, or coordinated inauthentic activity intended to manipulate ranks.
• No use of stolen cards, prepaid card-fraud schemes, or any payment method the bidder is not authorized to use.
• No harassment of other bidders or listing owners, on or off BUMBUM.
• No attempts to bypass, disable, or interfere with the leaderboard, the Realtime feed, or the payment flow.

We may update these rules from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of BUMBUM after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated rules.
